Strengthen your capacity to prepare for difficult negotiations

The FATC Negotiation Coach is an AI-supported learning tool designed to help negotiators analyse complex environments, examine different perspectives and prepare more systematically for engagement.

Negotiating humanitarian access to refugees

Prepare for a complex negotiation using the tools and methods covered by the FATC Micro-courses. Analyse the situation from your role as negotiator with Food Without Borders. Build a constructive dialogue with the Camp Commander. Examine the stakeholder perspectives and develop your own strategy with the guidance and support of the FATC Negotiation Coach.

Through one focused question at a time, the Coach will help you construct an original analysis of the two parties' position, distinguish evidence from interpretation, and identify potential elements of a Common Shared Space. You will finish with a structured preparation brief containing your analysis, questions, assumptions and possible avenues for discussion.

The coach will guide and challenge your reasoning — but the analysis and decisions remain yours.

Coaching, not model answers

Your coach asks one focused question at a time, drawing out your reasoning instead of handing you a script. You stay the negotiator; it stays the coach.

A negotiation plan, built step by step

Move beneath each party's stated position to the reasoning and the motives beneath it — distinguishing what the case establishes from what you infer.

Side-by-side comparison

Lay your position and the one of your counterpart next to each other to surface convergence, divergence, and the information you still need.

A preparation brief you shaped

Finish with a structured meeting-preparation brief built from your own analysis — ready to carry into the room.

Private by design

Your sessions and notes are visible only to you. Administrators see anonymized, aggregate trends — never your individual work.

Grounded in the case

Coaching questions are grounded in approved case evidence. Unsupported claims and possible motives are treated as hypotheses to test.

How the exercise works

  1. Confirm you have read the selected case briefing and enter your first name to begin.
  2. Draw the Island of agreement to set the ground for a positive dialogue.
  3. Build and compare each party's Iceberg — position, reasoning, and motives — with the coach guiding you one question at a time, and identify convergence, divergence and missing information.
  4. Review a provisional Common Shared Space, then generate and refine your meeting-preparation brief.
